Questions:

Name of Collaborator:

Emil Mascorro

Title:

“Data Entry Coordinator”

What client(s) are you working for (if applicable)?

“Ascend Learning”

How long have you been working with People Thrust?

“I have been with People Thrust for 2 years.”

If you could be a car, what car would you be and why?

“I would be a Thunder Bird 2002, I like this car because it is a modern version of a classic car… like me. I’m a modern person in this society with an old soul.”

What do you like to do when you aren’t working? (hobbies)

“I LOVE playing Dungeons and Dragons also known as D & D. D & D is a fantasy game where you can create your own characters and therefore a world of endless possibilities. As a matter of fact, I love it so much that I have a tattoo of a dragon that symbolizes the game. I love anything related to the fantasy world like Lord of The Rings, and The Hobbit, and as a result, I got a tattoo of J.R.R. Tolkien (author of both books). ”

What is a tradition you have and why?

“I have a tradition that whenever a new episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race is live we (boyfriend and I) have to watch it the same day, all comfy in bed along with food and snacks. Another tradition I have is that the tomato explanation… What do I mean by tomato explanation? It means that whenever a new game of D & D starts I make an analogy about tomato in order to explain what virtue or hability each of the characters have.”

If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who it would be, and why?

“I would have dinner with J.R.R. Tolkien. He is a person who has invented languages and therefore a new world through his writings. I believe when you look into a language and words and understand it’s meaning you understand that words have importance and belonging. I would love to have dinner with Harvey Milk as well. Harvey Milk was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in San Francisco, California. It would be an honor to have dinner with him and talk about all the rights he fought for the LGBTIQA+ community and his bravery in doing so.

What motivates you to wake up every day?

“The simple things in life, my boyfriend, my dogs, and friends. Walking up every day giving a goodbye kiss to my boyfriend, and seeing my dog’s first thing in the morning motivates me to wake up every day. In the LGBTIQA+ community, we have this tradition where we open our doors (literally) to other people in the community, and in a way, you create your own family dynamics. In this case, my boyfriend and I have adopted 3 people who go by the pronoun They, and each one of them is welcome to our house, which is a safe space for them. Our house’s name is House of Lennox.”

What is a moment in your career and life you’re most proud of?

“In my career, I feel proud of when I used to work in a high school as a spiritual counselor. I was able to get to know and help seniors throughout their last year in high school. In addition, I’m most proud of myself when I’m authentic. It is hard to be my true authentic self when we live in a world that tells you otherwise. I’m proud when I accept myself with no judgment. ”

What do you do when you are feeling deflated?

“I hug my loved ones, my boyfriend, my dogs, and my chosen family. They make me feel like I’m not alone in this world.”

What do you do to give back or pay it forward? Think about social impact. If you don’t currently do something, what is something you would like to do in the future?

“I always have an open heart for those in need. I think my biggest strength is the art of listening. I listen to people when they are going through hard times. ”
