December 5 - 8, 2019
People Thrust / More Than IT / House Build 2019

About the Event

Passion and Integrity are core values at People Thrust. Social responsibility is at the heart of both of these values, where People Thrust can positively impact people’s lives through the pairing of an individual’s talents, skills, and passion with the needs of others. To deliver on this promise, People Thrust social impact program has partnered with Baja Bound, a nonprofit that has been building homes for the working poor in Ensenada since 1993.

The Impact

We spread love everywhere during this 4-day event! Besides being part of a house build for a family in need; we impacted other parts of the community.

We got to hear stories about students that are sponsor by Baja Educational Initiative and how being able to go to school has changed their lives.

We spent time and helped the staff at Gabriel’s House. This is a rehabilitation center for children with disabilities who have been orphaned, abandoned, or whose families are unable to take care of them.

We spent time at Campo de Esperanza. This community center developed altruistic activities in communities of extreme poverty and focusing on the integral development of Mixtec children. With the vision of transforming the community, eradicating hunger and raising educational rates. We spent a morning feeding over 100 children and families.

Seeing children’s smile at the orphanage was beautiful. I realized that by being part of People Thrust’s team, they care about the unfortunate and is willing to give to change others' lives.

Barbara C

I realized that my problems are nothing compared to what they have to deal with on a daily basis. I am very grateful to have been part of something so wonderful.

Ana Rodriguez

I am not the same person after this. I feel more human, more interested in community and charity. It's cool to be part of People Thrust’s family.

It’s Fun To Give Back

Did you know one of People Thrust’s values is collaboration? Our team came together and spent a weekend of service, and along the way we had a lot of fun doing it. We had dinner throughout the weekend at different places. We feel that some of the best conversations always happen over food. Wouldn’t you agree?  We dined out at Ophelia, Tacos El Poblano (Maneadero) and  Mariscos el Mazateño throughout the weekend. We prepared our own breakfasts and lunches. On the last night, one of our team members, Juan D. Llera, who graduated from culinary school, sourced fresh local fish to create a personal, delicious, and well thought out dinner for everyone. We also had some serious competition with our Jenga Olympic Tournament and some of us even considered pursuing a career in singing at a karaoke night. Last but not least, we fell in love with a dog during our weekend event and adopted him…his name is Atlas. Atlas is People Thrust’s new mascot and we are excited to welcome him into our family
